Fellow IRM member Bob Baier was antiquing with his wife on the way home from Steam
Town. They ping-ponged all over Pennsylvania, checking out old coal mining towns,
etc. They wound up in Washington after the museum closed for the day. After nosing
around, they were approached by a member. Once this member found out Bob and
Sonseeahray (she changed her name from "Barbara" after she discovered she was one
eighth Native American) were railfans and IRM members, he got permission to pull out
1711 and take them for a couple of runs up and down the line. Bob thanked him and
donated $50 on the spot.
That's the sort of people you'll find at PTM. But be warned.......on my first visit,
I was immediately put to work helping a guy working on a platform and then hauling
supplies for Scott Davis. If Ed hasn't rescued me so we could ride the Drake line
that evening, I would have been helping someone clean out a switch mechanism. :-)
