I agree with Jim. E-mail etiquette (if there is such a thing) suggests that
the replyer (is that a real word?) delete excess previous material from the
message he sends on. I have to remind myself to do this, but I believe that
a to-the-point forwarded message has a better chance of being read by the
recipient than a lengthy string of previous messages.

Quite simple -- the writer himself cleans up the email that he is
responding to.
