Grade crossing was eliminated at time of LRT construction to South Hills
Village in the mid-80s.

I believe that the tunnel replaced the grade crossing in 1999, but since I'm
in Chicago, we'll have to rely on a Pittsburgh local to confirm the year and
the month (September, 1999?)

By the way, I took about 20 slides of that 1975 36-Drake
derailment/rerailment at Ft. Couch Road - only four of the photos are posted
on the website. The website is called Fallen Flags
(www.dnaco.net/~gelwood), and is mostly railroad photos (about 60,000); at
my request, the website owner agreed to set up a page containing some of my
old Pittsburgh and Johnstown trolley photos and text; some other trolley
photos were added, and it became the Light Rail Systems page.

Ed Lybarger probably has access to the 1954 Drake bridge and loop photo - I
believe that he posted the URL to this list last year.
