PAT 1776 was originally PRC 1616. It was my favorite car (Hey, Jim, when
will this series be available from St. P.???) Why? First time let loose on
a PERC fantrip was June 1957 using 1616, which supposedly had recently been
released by Homewood with a white front. We actually ran ahead of time,
(charter schedule was based on low floor experience) and made detour to
Kennywood Park.
PAT 1776 was the only car to receive the red-white-blue "Spirit of 76' paint
scheme. As originally released by Tunnel Carhouse, did not have stars above
window, but heard HHG make comment that rear of car was too dark. The large
white stars could be considered a safety improvement. (there are lots of
idiots in the world with poor eyesight and a drivers license.)
