http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/jpg/pitt157.jpg is a photo of 1630 as
delivered to PRCo at Highland Car House, initial assignment. When
Highland closed, 1630 finished her days at South Hills.
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp184.htm - same location as
above except in service on the 73-line. Note painted anticlimber and
chrome-less, black Golden Glow - a feature of all 15s and 16s when
delivered new -- paint instead of chrome as a wartime restriction.
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/bvp033.htm - note that the
weather guards have not been added over the monitor screening as yet.
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp192.htm - shows the guards in
place on the fan monitor.
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp186.htm - original black
Golden Glow replaced with chrome Golden Glow!

http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp193.htm --- stripped of
roof monitor by PRCo about 1961 and given an electrical and mechanical
tune-up. Car 1630 was a stellar performer. The overhaul also saw the
winged logo applied behind the center door for the first time, 3-years
prior to ({[pat]}) takeover --- and the ({[pat]}) rejection of the
car presumably because of the roof cowling from the 100, 1000--1199 series
cars!
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp197.htm --- tight curve on
steep grade --- sounded like the wheels scraped the floorboard in
process of negotiating this curve!

Car 1600 was delivered as the Demonstration Post-War All-Electric so it is
markedly different from 1601--1699, the latter being standard air-cars with
extended dynamic braking ala all-electrics and drum mounted air-brakes, the
only air-cars delivered this way (some of the 1200--1299, 1400--1564 series
cars were retrofitted thus.)
My roster notes show that 1600 was delivered on 1945.09.05 and was placed
into service on 1945.09.18. Cars 1601 through 1636 were all delivered the
same day as or before 1600 (but 1628 was delivered 1945.09.06; 1630
1945.09.18, same days as 1600 entered service; 1631 and 1633 delivered
1945.09.08; 1632 delivered 1945.09.12). All these 16s entered service
before 1600, including 1632--1637 with 1631 entering service on 1945.09.20
and 1630 entering service on 1945.09.22.
It might be *presumed* that 1630 had been ordered with the roof fan
monitor even before 1600 was a reality, but it could also be presumed that
the monitor was added to 1630 because of the monitor on 1600.

running the length of the car while
http://davesrailpix.railfan.net/pitts/htm/wvp230.htm shows that the 1700s,
which arrived several years after 1600, have the doors protruding above the
similar molding line. These are the only all-electric PCCs where this is
true.
