Incorrect statement below: West Penn ran from McKeesport to Duquesne, not from
Duquesne to the amusement park. Pittsburgh Railways owned the track from
McKeesport to Duquesne from 1951 or 1952 until route 68 was abandoned in 1960.
Prior to the early 1950s, West Penn owned and maintained the track. The evidence
of the maintenance was a charge in the expense file circa 1951 that was being held
in a pending file until it was decided where to post it, because they were
negotiating at that time with PRY to buy the line. If you buy the map from the
Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, you will see that the West Penn portion is clearly
marked.
Car tracks were on the north side of the street at the park; the loop and layup
tracks were on the south side of the street in what is now part of the parking lot.
