I need to backtrack here: I'm not sure just how the question of narrow-gauge entered the discussion. The map doesn't indicate track gauge,
and as far as I can see there is no narrow-gauge in the photo.
The lines Bob has traced in blue are contours, which I supposed he included to indicate the hollow.
In 1923 the junction itself would have been a little less than two decades old - in other words, fully-established. According to Hilton the
P&CS ceased operations in 1909, so it was long gone no matter the date of the picture.
