I wasn't there when this was decided, but I believe the step wells are badly
rotted from outdoor storage at SHJ prior to our taking the car.

PAT 1799 (supposedly former 1613) was one of the last original PCCs PAT
renovated and renumbered before starting on the 4000 series rebuilds.
Was there any reason PTM choose to store this car rather than operate it
when it
arrived at the Museum? How did its condition compare to say the Red Arrow
"Gulf
Oil" car or the 1711 (when the 1711 first arrived at the Museum)?
