I don't think that Mayor Barr was connected with the G. Barr Co.which was in
Chicago.

Your question recalls an old urban legend that plagued Pittsburgh Mayor
David Lawrence in the 1950s - that he was economically involved in Allegheny
Asphalt Co., a building material supplier that provided asphalt  for paving
many of Pittsbuirgh's streets.
