Recent discussion of PRC trackwork prompted me to ask Derrick to post a couple of photos from my collection. The original photos are small and not too detailed, but they show the trackwork at E. Ohio and Chestnut Streets on the North Side in June, 1963 - 6-10 years after all but the 77/54 trolleysstopped running on them. Both photos were taken by Clarence Gerst:

The trolleys are route 77/54, but car numbers are unknown. The Old Corner Drugstore is the building with awnings to the far left, behind the tracks that connected Chestnut St. with E. Ohio St. to the east (left) and the Millvale carbarn. The tracks from the lower left corner to the middle of the photo were routes 1 and 5. The left-to-right tracks were routes 2, 3 and 4. The Chestnut Curb Market - a produce store - is the building with awnings to the far right.

Local landmarks are the P&M Cafe and Isaly's. Note the lower left corner of the photo which shows the cut rail on the routes 1 and 5 lines on Chestnut St.

This intersection is still there, but the tracks and buildings are all gone.
