For what it's worth....
Was following the trolley line from Buffalo to Erie, Pa. on these old maps,
and just to see what would happen, kept going west by selecting the adjacent
quad. Got to about Sandusky, Ohio. Then headed south (picking up Ohio
Electric part way), and with some detouring, ended up in Cincinnati. Tried
heading back towards Pa. via Columbus, but too many quads not yet available
at this site.
Then started heading south from the Pittsburgh quad to see what would
happen. Got to Morgantown, then had to head southeast. Ended up near North
Carolina in western Virginia, then east to near Richmond. Again, as with
Ohio, Virginia quads only partially scanned and available on this site.
