West Penn 832 is one dandy lookin' piece of machinery! What is its history
at PTM?
It obviously arrived in operating condition. Now it isn't used. What
happened to it
 over the years? >>

It was the mid 60's when I quit being a weekend worker at Arden and left the
region.
Until that time the car saw in the back of the original barn and I always
thought it looked pretty good. In those days Dave Hamley, Rick Hannigan and
John Baginsky
were young wippersnappers and always excited to work. At one point John told
me the car needed rebuilt and he was going to tackle the project. John died
unexpectedly after an operation and I lost a good friend and Arden a real
trooper
as good as some of the current workers. But the next time I was at Arden the
car
was stripped to the frame with everything sort of in a pile on it.

That is a start of the story, and I am sure members of this group can pick it
up, correct my memory if necessary, and finish it to this day.

832 must have had a lot of hidden problems, like PTM found with 4398, 1138,
and others.

Hope this starts a dialog, and it is on topic. By the way, roughly how old
is Dick Bowker now? Wasn't Dick the main benefactor of 1138, and why did he
pick that PCC for the museum? I used to know but have totally forgotten.

the other Fred.
