I am helping with school programs in Ohio (our area) to try and get better 
supplies,
updated books, computers, etc.  A friend in Chicago inner city is a new 
teacher and it is a horror story.  I believe there is money in this country 
to fix the training and education problems, but politicians don't get elected 
by students who never had a chance.
BTW - I am not a fan of politicians.  

My roots are in West Virginia and there are a hell of a lot of good hard 
working people there, as in the states you mentioned.
