Pennsylvania suffers from two problems:

1. we got old (collectively)

2. we didn't encourage inward migration (with a multitude of causes and 
effects)

The result is an aging population and a declining work force.   But we - and 
the US - are in far better shape then some of the other ticking 
economic/demographic time bombs in the world.  If we can avoid doing 
something stupid in next few years, I suspect that we will all be very 
thankful that we are living in the US in the following decades.
