There is no record on the route cards of either 87 or 62 having been
based there. Remember, Ron's book is a picture history...it is not and
will not be the authority on many, many facets of PRCo. For example,
the reason cited for Pittsburgh's broad gauge is completely inaccurate.
I don't accept statements like "...never liked this facility..." as good
historical research. And statements like "The location was useful as an
emergency station" are undocumented and probably represent a response to
a perceived need to say SOMETHING about a subject! There is really
little true interpretation in this volume. It is, as forecast, a rehash
of the Snow Report with added material as available. There is very
little about the company's financial situation or relations with the
politicians and the media.

Subject: [PRCo] Re: Ardmore Car House
Here's what Ron Beal has to say about it in his new book:
"Constructed by the Ardmore Street Railway Company in 1907. PRCo never
liked this facility and assigned only some 87 Ardmore and 62 Trafford
cars here. The location was useful as an emergency station.
"PRCo wanted to sell the property after World War 2 as real estate
values skyrocketed in this area. The building was sold and converted
into a roller skating rink (1950) and the overall property was developed
into a shopping center."
Is this an accurate description?
