Once in awhile I run across a photo or two that don't seem to make sense to me. I have a print I purchased from John Bromley that shows PCC 1706 signed 42/38 on the 38A loop with another car behind it. The only part of the sign I can read on the second car shows "RAKE". No doubt 36 -Shannon Drake. This is where the confusion sets in. What would a Drake car be doing on the 38A loop unless of course this was a charter. The photo is dated 5/26/74. I have a theory that maybe the Shannon lines ran on the 42/38 one way while the South Side busway was being constructed in Overbrook. Any ideas? Another shot of a recently acquired slide shows a Library car on the 37 loop next to Castle Shannon Municiple Building. This slide is dated 7/2/74. I know the Mt. Washington Tunnel was being constructed in 1974 and cars would detour inbound or outbound on new Arlington. I seem to recall that the South busway was being constructed the same year. This would not explain a 35 car on the 37 loop however. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I'm Back! Mark Mc
