Hi Fred,
I have a photo (NRHS-NJ #066(2), 1646 Muldowney Loop IB,
1959.09.07) looking *somewhat* outbound near the beginning
of the 65-loop on the 56-line. The loop turnout was
nearside the crossing and a Dual-Light signal shows on the
pole far-side of the intersection where the 56-line starts
into a gentle left-curve outbound.
Thought I remembered US&S type signals bottom of Buttermilk
Hollow; will have to check videos to verify. Also, before
the outbound cars dip into Buttermilk Hollow, they round a
long, blind gentle right-curve, not unlike Hillcrest to
Brightwood on Charleroi // Library.
Interesting that 42-Dormont had US&S signals between Dawn and
Beechview on prw but none on the rest of the line in spite of
the blind curve between Hillsdale and Dell!
Washington local lines had Nachod in some spots if I remember
correctly; have a photo of such.
Jim

When I said I never saw signals on route 56, I forgot those
installed for protection of cars running wrong rail between
the junction with route 65.
