Glad to hear your getting better Fred ! Spinal surgery is still not a guaranteed operation. I have a compressed disk #5 and chose not to go under the knife ! I do have restrictions but can handle that. The best thing I did was buy a new therapy type mattress and it did wonders for me. You might consider that. Scalding Hot showers also help in the AM and before going to bed. I tried not to take too much medicine as my 2 bufferin a day and 9-10 cups of black coffee gave me a bleeding ulcer!!  The 911 call saved me ! Cut out bufferin and down to 3-4 cups of java with cream. AND take 80 mg aspirin every three days to keep stroke at bay (God willing) CHEERS   rogertrolley
