Good Morning!

This information was also reported in Dave Hamley's
First--of--Six articles on PRCo PCCs and their dispositions.

Interesting to note that cars were still being scrapped
at Ingram in March__&__April__1961. When 108 more PCCs were
scrapped in the Fall of 1961 at Rankin, Only One Car of the 10
and 11 series was left, that car being 1138.

        Quoting Dave::

"""...1138. It was selected from the group of 30-cars
stranded at Ingram when the West End lines were shut down
June_20,_1959. Some of these were stored inside the barn while
others had sat outside exposed to weather and vandals. Our
choice was obviously limited to the indoor storage. Two cars
were contenders, 1011 and 1138. The final choice pretty much
rested with PTM member Dick Bowker, who was footing the bill for
this first Pittsburgh PCC preservation, and Dick was a big fan of
the 1100s. End of discussion."""
"""Prco records show all 29 cars that were scrapped at
Ingram as having been dismantled on the same day,
March_29,_1961. This was obviously not the case,... We
removed 1138... on April_5,_1961, at which time the scrapping was
still in progress... Did anyone [Fred?:->)] record the
actual scrap dates of those 29-cars? For the record, here's
the cars cut up at Ingram:"""

"""1011, 1014, 1017, 1019, 1025, 1027,"""

"""1030, 1054, 1059, 1062, 1069, 1077,"""

"""1080, 1081, 1084, 1097, 1101, 1106,"""

"""1118, 1123, 1127, 1143, 1152, 1156,"""

"""1177, 1180, 1184, 1192, 1193."""

"""No cars were scrapped in 1962 nor early 1963..."""

Cars 1259 and 1269 swapped numbers on 1963.08.12 just
prior to the 1963__Fall scrapping program. Reason: wrong
number filed on scrapping papers and it was easier to change car
numbers than redo all the papers -- it twas the original 1259
that was to be scrapped!
