The trailer number also does not show on the original print either ... it would be a B or C class 2 motor trailer running in conjunction with a 4-motor low-floor car.
Pittsburgh Railways posed the majority of their company car record pictures on North Braddock at the intersection of Bennett Street because of that location's proximity to Homewood Shops. It was not (repeat NOT) on route 88. And Benett Street was state highway 80 from Penn Hills into East Liberty. In those days they didn't worry
about setting up an 8x10 view camera and spending five minutes blocking the intersection. The last I've seen that was taken there was car 100 in the summer of 1936.
You are going to ask me how I know 4829 was taken there? Truthfully, I don't, because the houses and sky have been opaqued out. But that was where they did that sort of thing. And it is angled sufficiently to compensate for the narrowness of Bennett St.
Actually there are a few that were not taken there. One of 6002 was taken on Frankstown at the west end of the shops. There is another picture of one of the 2nd 6000s at Bunkerhill, and a third one downtown at the Post Office. But those are exceptions, not the rule. And there is also one of a pair of MU 5000s approaching South
Braddock at the west end of Frick Park.
