The bridge was barricaded upon the opening of the Fort Pitt Bridge. I
walked across the deserted structure the following summer (and then back
along Carson Street and the Smithfield Street Bridge for good measure!) and
observed an ample weed crop springing from the cracks. We have many news
clippings on this subject...not all together, but in chronological sequence
in a general file. Is there a volunteer to dig it out? I'll be away all
next week at a convention.

The tracks were in place in the West End for several years.

As far as I know, the Point Bridge wasn't used for anything after 1959. I no
idea when the overhead wire was removed nor when the bridge trackage was
severed from the rest of the system. I have, however, seen a photo taken on
the Point Bridge just before it was dismantled in 1970. The rails were in
place, along with all sorts of weeds sprouting on the bridge deck.
