To add to what Ed just said, I was sitting in Charlie Shauck's office in the
middle 1950s when he received a phone call from the Pennsylvania Department of
Highways wanting the power turned off over the "abandoned" P&LE Transfer Line so
the new parkway bridge could be erected in safety. . Shauck muttered, "We were
going to tear the wire down next week. Now the thieves will have it before we
can get it down."
Point being that no cars could have been run out of Ingram on their own power
because the bridge was barracaded and the wires were down on the alternative
route.
