The printed system maps are in the same almost totally useless style.
All they're good for is getting a list of a dozen or so routes, so you
can waste time looking up the maps individually.  (The printed maps
helpfully include an explanation of the numbering system*, but that's
the only redeeming feature.)

Amusingly, at least as of a few months ago, the rather outdated system
maps posted in the subway stations have been left alone.  Maybe
someone at PAT realizes that a well designed 1995 map is more useful
than a badly designed 2004 one.  Or they just haven't gotten around
to it, sort of like the "To Drake" signs being left alone until 2002
or so.

* Speaking of which, does anyone know of inconsistently numbered
PAT routes other than 56U (should go downtown but doesn't) and,
formerly, 71B (which didn't go downtown, but was fixed by being
renumbered 74B)?
