I Still Try to remember that time -- but any memory is forced.
Can't understand why I can't remember! Yes, twas Christmas 1976
-- last Christmas in the east. Within 40-days I was working for
the SF-Muni!!!!!!! Maybe that was on my mind although I believe I
did not know at Christmas!

Could be the 42-Dormont sign is set up as that is all the further the
car goes when it Does return outbound. This prevents forgetting to
turn it later. That is the way the Drake and Library cars did on
Sundays -- they were interlined so it was inbound on one and outbound
on the other. At the outer loop the sign was changed to the other
route as a rule so they wouldn't forget so to do when downtown.
Since service on Drake and Library was hourly on Sunday, thus 3-minute
headway from Wash_Jct to downtown and return, it took only 3-vehicles to
cover the schedules by interlining. It would take 4-cars to do the
same hourly schedule if cars remained dedicated to one route only --
25% savings this way.
