Well, we have a similar experience, if not the same: the 62nd St bridge
buckled due to fire underneath in the 80s, and was closed for (i think
about 14 months)

It might be more than that, but from the looks of it, no more than 500.

I like to keep my philosophy, it comes in handy occasionally. I figure
other people have or can get their own.
