A little more information on the selection of the new name for PAAC's
transit system in 1964:

Besides PAT and PAL, three other top names were ACT (Allegheny County
Transit), ACTS (Allegheny County Transit System), and ATS (Allegheny Transit
System).

Some of the humorous names that got only one vote each: COW PATH (County
Wide Port Authority), ALLEY CAT (Allegheny County Authority Transit), and
Jerk & Jolt (no acronym given).
