My favorite is the insistance by Hollywood directors that cylinder cocks on
steam locomotives should be open so that steam comes out.  (For those in the
electric railway field unfamiliar ... cylinder cocks are drain valves on the
bottom of locomotive cylinders and they are left open only long enough on
starting an engine to allow condensed water in the cylinders that flashes into
steam to escape without blowing off the cylinder heads ... the time is in
seconds not months.)  I also have problems with the History Channel (on cable)
for using illustrative material totally unrelated to the subject.
