Good Morning!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

It was 53 years ago on New Years' Day when Pittsburgh Railways
was under new ownership. Many events have happened since
then.

++ The Route 9 shuttle was abandoned
++ Buses were now labeled "Pittsburgh Railways"
++ Routes 17, 20, and 81 were now all bus.
++ The Herron Hill carhouse was closed and
turned over to the Way Dept.
++ Route 85-Bedford now operated from Craft Avenue and
++ Route 22-Crosstown now operated from Manchester barn.
++ Route 37-Castle Shannon now ran only during rush hours,
but with the Washington and Charleroi cars still
running, this route was given a 15-minute service.
++ The Pennsylvania State Highway Dept. has forced PRCo.
to give up the Millvale carbarn, placing the
future of routes 2 and 3 in great doubt.

From HEADWAY RECORDER, January, 1952, page 8.

       Very Sincerely,

       Dennis M. Linsky
