PRCo 1600s had Air--Drums -- only PRCo air cars
built with drums. This is a technical note made to
dispel the possible assumption from above that these were
wheel-tread brake shoes!
All other PRCo Air-Cars built and delivered with
Wheel-Tread Brake Shoes -- some in each series from
1200s forward converted to drums.
The 1200s always made operators nervous because
these beasts had a tendency to roll backward when stopping
uphill -- spring applied wheel treads or spring applied
drums If converted to drums. Interesting that it was
under the 1200s where the Experimental__B3s were tested
And All B3 trucks were All-Electric with spring-applied
drums ---- Except the PRCo 1600s converted to
interurban service -- air applied drums!
And the 1600-series interurbans with B3s didn't seem
like they would stop even going forward on the level --
strictly perception as a passenger. Maybe they would
be excellent on Fineview - take foot off power and the car
would stop because it is uphill.
