I chartered 1707 in July 1958 and ran it over Fineview. No specific car was
picked until the night before ... 1707 had just been partly painted so I picked
it in total ignorance of any potential operating problems. Remember, I was only
18 then. And the barn man who set it aside for the charter never asked where we
were taking it. That should give you a hint why I know that the drum brakes
were insufficient to hold a 1700 on Henderson Street ... I watched it roll back.
