It has been wonderful reading of some of your experiences as youth, that
is how those of us who are a little younger learn about the past. I did not
grow up around traction or railroads, other than my early Lionel experiences
and did not have parents that showed any interest in that area. I grew up
as a musician and gained the knowledge in that area, and subsequently the
knowledge in the rail fields, by asking questions, reading, observing and
having great teachers.
Fred and Ed have been extremely helpful in expanding my horizons and am
eternally grateful for that. The opportunity provided by Derrick to
participate in this group effort has been very fruitful and he deserves our
praise.
So keep writing and remembering. For those of you that are interested
in doing an oral history, check with Barb Kearns at PTM. She is the educator
there and would be more than interested in your stories. Her email is
educator at pa-trolley.org
Enjoy the fall, one of the best times of the year!
