Thanks Jim for your description of a San Francisco fog. I agree. I don't
know how I would feel if I lived there but in passing through I've always
found the coolness of San Francisco a wonderful respite from the rest of
California and particularly the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys. And for
those who have never been there, you need to experience getting on a BART
train in Pittsburg where it is 100 degrees on a summer day and then getting
off in San Francisco and thinking, "I need a sweater." Was it Samuel
Clemens who wrote that, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San
Francisco." It's a great place, fog and all.

There are some cities on this planet (other than one's home town) that act
like a magnet, drawing us back over and over and over to the restaurants,
museums, vistas, fogs ... the places that you've been to a dozen times but
you never run out of things to do ... London, Paris, Berlin, and, of course,
San Francisco.
