Greetings to all
Here is what was hapening outside Forbes Field
PRC tripper streetcars to South Side, downtown were stored at
the sidings off Craig Street near 5th Ave.
PRC tripper streetcars to the east and North Side (77/54) were
stored at Craft Ave barn.
Route foremen would oder them out as the game ended. It was
very well executed.
I dont remember if any cars were thru routed
to South Hills or North side. Does any one else remember?.
I will always remember one of Rege Cordics characters. Pretending
to be the U of Pgh Chancellor Litchfield, when Pitt wanted Forbes Field,
Rege spoke as the Chancelllor (as Hitler did also) "Give me Oakland
today, tomorrow the world"

Subject: Forbes Field 1962
Attached are scans of a couple of slides that I took at Forbes Field before a night game in August, 1962. Note:
- In the pre-network TV contract days, the infield grass was not as well tended as it is today.
- In the lower right corner of the "Outfield" photo you can see the green doors that covered the motorized tarp roller that was stored underground in dry weather.
Kevin: these photos were taken at the game that you and Len and I attended in 1962.
