I thought about that, but decided to go ahead and make the unproved implication
of copying anyway. This is the Internet, after all :-)
Since then, though, I've done a little test - not an exhaustive test but a
fairly good sample.
Maptech and Pmtmate both are punctilious about listing edition dates and
reprint dates. I made a comparison - a sample, not an exhaustive check - with
my own hard copies and found that I had a number of different reprint dates
where Maptech and Pmtmate are in lockstep. So if they were independently
scanned it must at least have been from the same collection(s).
Further observation: Maptech's selection is limited to the Northeast, south to
Virginia and west to Ohio. The CDs I have seen advertised are - south to
Virginia and west to Ohio.
Coincidences are possible. I just don't I think I'll bother to buy one of the
CDs.
