Wow! as impressive as a bridge connecting the US and Canada.

The cultural chasm between Germany and Poland, on the other hand - in the era 
of those immigrants to Milwaukee, at any rate - no bridge could ever span.

You want an impressive work of man, try the Great Northern tunnel in Seattle, 
stretching from Maine to Virginia.

Actually, I lie. It runs from Main Street to Virginia Street. The joke works 
only in the spoken version - or in writing only if you attach the alternate 
spelling in the manner of a French-language pun.
