Bob and all
Most of the guys in my National Guard unit had been
on a school field trip to Wash. DC. They were rural
kids and went to the farm show in Harrisburg each year
Then came the time to get married,,,in a hurry. Off to
Cumberland, Md. When we did Secret security clearances
in my Nike unit...about one out of 5 went to Cumberland.
>From Phila, they went to Elkton. Md.
At Guard summer camp, most went to Detroit for the
weekend from Camp Perry Ohio or to Baltimore from
IGMR.
Cleveland was good for baseball games and Indianapolis
for Memorial Day races. The all had cars so travel was easy.
I would say that they needed a reason to travel...and then they would.
These were all Westmoreland County farmers.
