[PRCo] 3800 Car Information

Hi All,

Hope some of the members on the mailing list can help me with information.  
I'm working on a project to produce an HO scale model of the 3800-3814 Big 
Interurban Cars.  The East Penn site has Paul Moore's plan for this car 
which I have used as the basis for drawing up an assemble drawing in 
AutoCAD.  But to really complete the drawing I would like to get some 
additional research – photos, drawings, descriptions, whatever folks here 
may have that they would be willing to share.

My ultimate goal is to produce:

1) a complete assemble drawing of a typical 3800 car including underbody 
detail.
2) cutting patterns to product the pieces necessary to build a model in HO

I'm investigating laser cutting and brass photo-etching as possible ways to 
produce the parts of the model.  Not sure which will be the best and most 
cost effective.

Working in HO I'm planning to power the unit with the new Bowser power unit.

Once I get things finished up I'll be happy to share the drawings and/or 
model pieces with anyone on the list who may want them.  There will be no 
charge for the drawing.  However, for the model pieces I will have to ask 
folks to pay the cost of production.  To give you some idea, a preliminary 
quote for having the pieces laser cut from plastic as in the range of $20.00 
per set.

Any one interested in the drawings to date please let me know – I can send 
you the AutoCAD file or a PDF that you can view/print.  Oh yea – for those 
of you working in other scales, AutoCAD will resize the drawings to O, S, or 
N scale very easily.  If you don't have AutoCAD and want me to scale the 
drawings to another scale let me know that.
