For what it's worth ... unsupported ... undocumented ... I can't  
prove ... second hand information received last week from a German  
railfan who visited Canal station in New Orleans in the last month  
indicated that NORTA was having problems with cracking frames on the  
trucks on the new Canal cars.  Those are the same trucks that were  
used on the Philly cars for the Girard service.  But I can offer a  
guarantee that the track in New Orleans is a whole lot smoother than  
the best in Philadelphia.

If you want to pick nits, the Transit Research Corporation defended  
vigorously their truck patents.  These cars do not have PCC trucks.   
Therefore some might say that they are not even PCC cars but simply  
look alikes.   As much PCC as the alleged Birneys in Little Rock,  
Memphis and Tampa are Birneys (without any of the normal safety  
appliances).
