Maybe another way to state this is that a Transfer was free and for use
only within the *-Division // Immediate-Area;-* i.e., South Hills
transfer for South Hills lines -- West End Transfer for West End etc.

A Special allowed movement between Divisions and involved an extra fee
beyond the base fare -- i.e., A Special was needed to *-transfer-*
from South Hills to North Side, etc.

A Throat was a Special which was issued when one boarded close to
downtown -- don't remember the boundaries for this -- can't remember
if it involved an additional fare.

There was a time limit on Transfers, Specials, and Throats -- don't
remember what that was (here in SF transfer is cut for minimum
1.5-hours, maximum 3-hours.)

Since it is an ImPerfect World, exceptions etc. *-may-* apply!!!!!!!
