Never gave that much thought but could be similar.

Another point of psychology with bicyclists is that they represent a 
pinpoint on the highway - looking into a mirror to see if one is coming up 
on the left and one expects something Much Larger so bicyclists go unseen.   
Besides, bicycle Much More Maneuverable as they weave in and out and they 
can change position in a split second.

Had considered a bicycle for commute back and forth to work but believe that 
a bad decision.   Yes, It Is Legal - but that doesn't make it right - time 
for bicycles on the road is in the past - parks, dedicated bicycle  
*-paths-*  Not Lanes is what is needed.   Very Bad Mix of bikes and all 
other motor vehicles.
