The side crashes that I was initially thinking about were railroad grade
crossings - where the auto driver would claim that they never saw the train.
But yes, LRT also.
Likewise, in accidents where an auto wipes out a motorcycle, usually with
the auto making a left turn in front of the cycle - drivers frequently claim
thay never saw the cyclist. Perhaps it is a conditioned response to react
to autos and trucks.
And then there was the railroad grade crossing reported in the Memphis paper
about 3 years ago: two drivers drove around lowered crossing gates and ran
into each other. <g> (collision occurred off of the rr tracks, so that
train not involved in accident.)
