I've seen automobiles hit by trains. I recall a guy's Ford that was
hit by a Pennsy GG-1 west of here and east of Mount Joy. I know it
was a Ford because I found a 4 x 5 inch piece of the transmission
case on the ground with the name Ford on it after the swept the rest
of the car into the waste basket and hauled it away.

You may but I don't. I have never seen a railroad rule book that
did not include a phrase similar to "in case of doubt the most
restrictive course of action shall apply." I spent just shy of
ten years working under railroad retirement.
The result is, when I see a railroad cross buck with two lights, they
have only two possible aspects: red or broken. If they are not
red, then I want to be able to see down the track in both directions
far enough to know nothing is coming and if I can't, damn it all, I
stop. Windows Open. Radio Off. This world is filled with beauty
and I'd like to keep my eyes open a little longer. (And if the guy
behind me is POed, so be it.)
