North Shore hung a brake shoe from the trolley shoe --
No Shprings!!!.......
Honest Veights!!!!!!!
When we were testing the ETI Trolleycoaches here in SF, they Did Use
Shprings!! A rope of the correct length was attached to trolley
shoe with a loop several feet from the ground to engage the spring
weight measure!
Remember PRCo Motormen as being Very Knowledgeable about proper spring
tension on the trolley poles -- today most managers ain't got the
foggiest idea as to what that is. Amazing how many times people
search for cause of repeated dewirements but never check the spring
tension. Improper spring tension is THE reason for 99_44/100%
of dewirements -- anything else is just contributory.
