Actually, musing about this comment now and I realize the reason that 
the 1200s were chosen for the Experimental B3 test is that They Were The 
Newest PCCs on the PRCo system    ----    just coincidental that the 
braking system operated like All-Electrics!

Very Interesting that  SLPS  1500--1599  were ordered two months earlier 
than  PRCo  1200--1299    ----    body style of the two cars All But 
Identical right down to trolley cowl  (Including Paint!!)    ----    
SLPS had the strange looking front end.       SLPS  was the Rolling 
Laboratory for All-Electric PCC Equipment and these cars were 
All-Electric  (in 1940)  and thus utilized Spring Applied // 
Electrically Released friction Drum brakes while PRCo 1200s used Spring 
Applied // Air Released friction Tread brakes.       As mentioned 
earlier, such friction Drum brakes on All-Electrics couldn't handle 
grades over 4.8% but this was rectified with time, experience, and research.
