The sage from Lake Woebegone, Garrison Keilor, once remarked that
there were a lot of towns in Oregon that were unpronounceable so that
the natives knew who to run out of the state when the sun set.
Willamette as in Wi-LAMB-it River is one of them.
Perhaps, Jim, the cop was just following you to make certain that
someone with California plates didn't overstay his welcome? Next
time you see an Oregon car in the Redwoods, you can send them back
north. <BG>
