Interurban cars began alternating between Roscoe and Donora on November 1,
1920.  That thru service to Donora ended February 22, 1925.

Others have summed up quite nicely why there was a wye...it's less
space-intensive, you could turn 3600-series cars (with two-man crews so
there was always someone on hand to back you out), there was a freight
station there (that used double-end cars so visibility wasn't an issue),
etc.  There was obviously enough traffic in and out of Donora for the
company to provide the enhanced service.  I suspect it did not grow the way
they had hoped, and the new Byllesby management discontinued it.
