As it happens, I recently scanned a page from "Oakland (Images of America)"*
with a photo supposedly from 1893, showing a trolley heading out of the
Carnegie Tech area:

But the page you cited claims work was stopped in 1890...

(For anyone who doesn't know, Homewood Av in Squirrel Hill is now
Northumberland St.)
