01.>-- Boris asked for photos of the "Safety__Slogan" on the back
of Air--Electric__PCCs (please see the quote of the original message
from Boris, at the bottom of this email, which specifies::: """It
should be on an air car, not all-electric.""") The safety slogans
were painted directly on the vehicle and were not contained in a
"frame" (please see #02 below.) The lines around the message
itself are the doors to the battery compartment, Not A Frame!!! It
seems the white background was as wide as the anticlimber and extended
perpendicularly up the back of the vehicle to the belt rail on both 16s
and 17s. So far, this request was answered through the photos below:::

02.>-- The "Advertizing__Frame" on the rear of PCCs is another
animal altogether. Pg.33 of my book only shows two photos and both
are the front of 1690. The photo of 1690 on the adjacent pg.32
shows the rear end WithOut a Safety Slogan so this is not germane to
Boris' question; however, 1690 does have a blank advertizing
rack. I do Not remember ad racks on the back of 17s but it doesn't
mean they weren't there. PRCo started moving the trolley catchers
to below the rear windows on City 1700s in the 1960s and did so slowly
-- this may not have been completed until after the ({[pat]})
takeover; PRCo did not do this with the 1601s but ({[pat]}) did when
the cars were rebuilt and renumbered as 1782+++ ---- the
1601-series Interurbans had retrievers below the rear windows which were
replaced by catchers!!! Thus, I-F the 17s had an ad rack on the
back end it was prior to the moving of the trolley catcher // and or the
ad rack was mounted below the stop lights which then makes them less
visible.
.
03.>--The photo reference I mention (below) on pg.19 is for the
Safety__Slogan on the back of 1790 which is Not in a Frame but as
mentioned above it is painted directly onto the vehicle.
