[PRCo] Re: G-Scale Models

Guys: I asked Dave Gairo about these models since he is active in G-Scale
modeling. Here is his reply:

The New Orleans car was made by LGB a few years ago. I have one! It is a
very nice looking car, made to some scale (No one knows which one!) but
overall, it looks ok. Probably close to 1/2" scale, which is 1:24, but
maybe not! It has DCC (LGB version, but compatible) built in. A year later
they made a Third Ave. Railways version of the same model. Nothing was
changed except the colors. (Oh yes! They added sound, along with $300 is
cost.) I paid $3xx, the newer car is $6xx.

The PCC was shown at the New Brunswick show last fall. It is being made by
GHB and is to 1/2" scale. Real scale, not something close as LBG does. The
pre-production sample that GHB showed looked very good. The sample looked
to be some kind of resin casting. No idea what it might cost. George would
not say.

Its made by LGB. Most likely to their standard 1/22.5 scale to run on 1
gauge (1/32) track, which means the 1 gauge track it runs on represents 3'
gauge (actually meter gauge, to be precise) relative to the streetcar. Far
cry from Pennsylvania broad gauge. If they make a PCC, at least it will be
fairly accurate for LARY.

A few weeks ago someone on the list made mention of a company which is
manufacturing a G-scale New Orleans Pearly Thomas model streetcar. The post
also
stated a PCC streetcar may be manufactured. What was the name of that
company?
