I think the list definition tended to evolve to what its members
appreciated. If someone mentions steel mills and industry, which
Cleveland has, Derrick's antennae will go up because that is his
other interest. You could probably mention the Birmingham Electric
service to the mills down there and Derrick will appreciate the
discussion. If models are mentioned, Jim and Bob and several
others will immediately jump in because that is their specialty. I
notices (and deleted) all the comments about sound cards in
models. If Wheeling is mentioned, and there can be a forced
connection because West Penn Railways owned the property, then Fred
Bruhn is happy. I grew up in Pittsburgh and you can move the body
out of the city but you can't get the Pittsburgh out of the person
but still I love to see everything that is new ... I've seen and
ridden and photographed 56 of the 59 operating light rail, heritage
and subway lines in the U. S. and Canada and I plan to add San Juan
Puerto, Rico to the list in ten days. I've also seen most of the new
properties in France, England, Germany. And I want to vacation in
India in 2008. I've been to Cleveland a few times starting in 1959
so I understand the geography and if I didn't I should at least learn
something about it. And once in a while someone brings up the
Pirates or the Steelers ... doesn't interest me at all but I can tell
from the responses that you guys are about as enthused as you would
be if someone found a fully restored here-to-fore undiscovered
Pittsburgh 3800 in a someone's backyard.

So the list started as a Pittsbugh list and it evolved to a group of
friends who have a common interest in the area within three hours of
Pittsburgh, give or take. I've actually met many of you. And I
like the gang. Does that make sense. And if we get off track now
and then, so what. We can all learn something from each other. And
it doesn't take long to scan a message, see if it is of interest, and
press the delete key if it isn't. It doesn't have to follow Yahoo
rules does it Derrick?
